Recently, the approval of the 200,000-ton 1,2-dichloroethane project of Shandong Shouguang Xinglu New Materials Co., Ltd. was announced.

The project is located in the existing factory area of Shouguang Xinglu New Materials Co., Ltd. in Shouguang Yangkou Chemical Industrial Park. The main construction contents include the construction of warehouses, factories, control rooms, laboratories, cabinet rooms, etc., the purchase of 52 sets (sets) of steam stripper, condenser, reboiler, storage tanks, pumps and other equipment, as well as supporting electrical appliances, instruments, power supply systems, utilities, auxiliary works, etc. After the project is completed, an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons of 1,2-dichloroethane will be formed. The total investment of the project is 512.2445 million yuan, of which environmental protection investment is 5.9 million yuan, accounting for about 1.15% of the total investment.

The production unit uses ethylene and chlorine as raw materials and adopts a direct chlorination method. The process flow is an addition reaction of ethylene and chlorine under the action of a catalyst to produce 1,2-dichloroethane, resulting in an annual production of 200,000 tons of 1,2-dichloroethane. production capacity.

Dichloroethane (EDC) is a colorless or light yellow transparent liquid with a boiling point of 83.5 ° C. It is a dangerous chemical and the main raw material for the production of vinyl chloride by the ethylene process. More than 95% of the world's dichloroethane is used in the production of vinyl chloride. Dichloroethane can also be used to produce chlorinated solvents such as trichloroethylene, ethylamine, vinylidene chloride and trichloroethane, and is also an intermediate in the production of tetrachloroethylene. In the pharmaceutical industry, EDC is the raw material for the production of mefenine and piperazine; in the production of tetrachloroethane, EDC is used as an intermediate; in the production of hexachlorophenol, EDC is used as a chemical agent; in addition, EDC can be used as a solvent for fats, waxes, and gums. It can also be used as detergents, extractors, pesticides and metal de-oilers, and as an azeotrope for recovering aqueous acetic acid. Source: Chemical Online
