Recently, news came from Sinopec Luoyang Petrochemical Company that Luoyang Petrochemical's million-ton ethylene project is accelerating and is simultaneously carrying out dynamic compaction area inspection and detailed survey work to provide a reliable basis for subsequent design and construction.

According to the plan, the construction site of the million-ton ethylene project is divided into two parts: the foundation pretreatment area and the non-foundation pretreatment area. In the foundation pretreatment area, the foundation soil is treated by dynamic compaction and compaction piles to eliminate the collapsible property of the foundation soil and improve the bearing capacity and uniformity of the site; in the non-foundation pretreatment area, natural foundations or friction piles, end-bearing piles and other structural piles are used to support buildings or devices.

In order to verify the quality of dynamic compaction construction, the project recently started testing the foundation bearing capacity of the dynamic compaction area. After optimization, the total number of testing points is about 350. So far, a total of 315 points have been completed, with a completion rate of 90%. Drilling samples in the dynamic compaction area have been completed. 83 points, accounting for about 11.4% of the total number of survey points. In response to the high water content of the surface soil at multiple points on both sides of North China Road, comprehensive rectification has begun at the project site, and the foundation bearing capacity test is expected to be completed this month.

On the basis of completing the detailed survey of non-foundation pretreatment areas, the project started the detailed survey of dynamic compaction areas on the 3rd of this month, with a total of 728 survey points planned and set up. This work is expected to end by the end of May.

As the "number one project" for Luoyang's industrial development, the million-ton ethylene project officially started in May last year. While actively carrying out dynamic compaction area testing and detailed survey, other current project work is also steadily advancing.

According to the construction coordination, the project procurement bidding work for 27 bid sections of the million-ton ethylene project has been completed. With the efforts of relevant departments in Mengjin District, the supporting Shiji Avenue North Extension and North Ring Road branch lines are ready for traffic. Street lamp installation and greening on both sides of the road are expected to be completed before the end of this month; the overall image progress of Jianxigou management has been 87%, and it is expected to be completed before the end of April.

Luoyang Petrochemical Million Tons Ethylene Project

Sinopec Luoyang Million Tons Ethylene Project is located in the Petrochemical Park of the Advanced Manufacturing Development Zone, Mengjin District, Luoyang City. It includes 13 sets of petrochemical production units, supporting public works and auxiliary production facilities, etc., with an estimated total investment of 24.6 billion yuan.

This project not only fills the gap in ethylene production in Henan Province, but also drives the construction and development of high-end petrochemical advanced materials industry clusters in Henan Province. The project will start substantially in May 2023 and is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2025. The products produced can be used in medical antibacterial non-woven fabrics, syringes, household appliances, toys, bottle caps, household electrical parts, etc.
