The main product of the Natural Gas Integration Project (Phase I) is 1BI 4-butanediol (BDO). Project content and scale: 250000 t / a BDO plant, 300000 t / an ammonia plant, supporting process equipment, public works and auxiliary facilities, etc. Process technology: this project uses acetylene, formaldehyde and hydrogen as raw materials to produce BDO by alkyne aldehyde method.

In 2023, the distribution of BDO production capacity in China is highly concentrated, mainly in Northwest and North China, where the source of acetylene is abundant. The total production capacity of Northwest China (including Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region, Shaanxi Province and Ningxia Hui Autonomous region) is 2.016 million tons / year, accounting for 58.38% of the total production capacity. The capacity of the southwest region (including Sichuan and Chongqing) is 245000 tons / year, accounting for about 7.10% of the total capacity; the capacity of the northeast region (including Liaoning Province) is 150000 tons / year, accounting for about 4.34% of the total capacity; and the capacity of East China (including Jiangsu Province) is 50000 tons / year, accounting for about 1.45% of the total capacity. Inner Mongolia Dongjing Bio-Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. is the largest BDO manufacturer in China, with a production capacity of 380000 tons / year, accounting for about 11.00% of the total production capacity, followed by Xinjiang Meike Chemical Co., Ltd., with a capacity of 360000 tons / year, accounting for about 10.43% of the total production capacity.

With the continuous improvement of production capacity, the core catalyst of BDO production process in China has also been localized. The BYD synthesis catalyst RK-17 (oxide type) developed by Dalian Ruike Technology Co., Ltd. has been successfully applied to the BDO plant of Henan Kaixiang Fine Chemical Co., Ltd. This is also the first BDO plant in China using domestic catalysts. The catalyst is mainly composed of oxides of copper, bismuth, magnesium and silicon, in which the mass fraction of copper oxide, bismuth oxide, magnesium oxide and silicon oxide are 45.0%, 3.5%, 4.5%, 6.5% and 45.0% respectively. Compared with the imported catalyst, the performance of the catalyst is stable. All opposites The formaldehyde concentration at the outlet of the reactor, the copper ion in the solution at the outlet of the reaction system, the particle size distribution of the extraction catalyst, the filtration time and the pressure difference of the reaction system are relatively stable, reaching the performance index of the imported catalyst. The catalyst accelerated the reaction rate of formaldehyde solution and acetylene gas in the alkynation reactor of BDO plant, and increased the reaction conversion rate at the same reaction time, and finally improved the production efficiency and quality of BDO products.
PBAT will be the biggest demand.
With the introduction of plastic restriction order and the expansion of green consumer market, biodegradable plastics such as PBAT show good market prospects and are the focus of investment and attention in the field of degradable plastics in China. The rapid rise of degradable plastics industry will have a strong pulling effect on BDO and become BDO. A new point of consumption growth. PBAT has the characteristics of poly (butylene adipate) (PBA) and PBT. It not only has good mechanical properties, but also has high ductility, elongation at break and excellent biodegradability. In addition, PBAT can be processed in many forms, such as injection molding, extrusion molding, blow molding and so on. It is widely used in the production of sheet, plastic film, packaging and foaming materials. At present, PBAT is mainly used in packaging materials (garbage bags, food containers and Film packaging), sanitary products (diapers and cotton swabs, etc.), compostable plastic bags for horticulture and agriculture, waterproof coatings for biomedical fields and other materials such as paper cups, etc. In 2022, China's PBAT production capacity will be 720000 tons / year. It is expected that in the future, the products in China's BDO market will still be mainly provided by acetylene method, and the effective production capacity of China's BDO in 2027 will be about 9 million tons / year. Coupled with other applications, it is estimated that China's demand for BDO will reach about 3.7 million tons by 2027.
It is expected that for a period of time in the future, due to the continuous growth of China's BDO supply, the price of raw materials is relatively stable, and the downstream demand fluctuates little, the market price of China's BDO will change slightly as it aims in 2023, and the possibility of such a large fluctuation as in 2021 is very small.
