On November 27, ROOM announced that ROOM's acrylic products business unit will merge with the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation's (SABIC) polycarbonate (PC) film and sheet business unit to form POLYVANTIS, a world's leading acrylic and PC film and sheet company.

The company will provide products such as films, plates, pipes and bars to serve multiple market segments such as construction, transportation and aviation, electronics and electricity, and automobiles. Michael Pack, CEO of Rohm, said: "The name POLYVANTIS expresses our vision to become the world's leading supplier of thin film and plates with strong market influence."

According to reports, POLYVANTIS has 16 production bases and 1500 employees in the Americas, Europe, Asia and Africa, and global sales are expected to reach about US$700 million. In December 2022, Roma signed an acquisition agreement with SABIC to acquire SABIC's PC film and board business. After being approved by relevant regulatory authorities, the divestiture of Roma's acrylic products business and SABIC PC's film and plate business is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2024.

Ronald Ayles, managing partner of investor Anhong Capital, said: "This merger will integrate the innovative strength and technical expertise of the two business units, accelerating their development and achieving greater success. After the merger, POLYVANTIS will provide comprehensive solutions to customers around the world, and customers will also be able to purchase high-quality products such as PLEXIGLAS and LEXAN film sheets in one stop."
